- Stereotypically, Victims are Women, killers are Psychopathic men (in a psycho thriller)
- Setting, can take place in woods to give the impression of isolation, or in a safe place, such as a home (effective because somewhere safe and secure has been turned into exactly the opposite)
- Mise en scene, use of shadows and lighting to create a sense of mystery, props such as knives, guns, bare hands to give a sense of brutality.
- Music will be used to support emotion.
